Why did I start The Fitness Compass? Because I wanted to be the same source of guidance and inspiration that others have given me to transform my life.
Unless you have known me for a long time, few people know my own transformation story. I was a chubby kid, not an athletic bone in my body, and always struggled with my weight. By the 3rd grade, I was well over 125 lbs, and by my junior year in high school, I was pushing 210lbs at 26% body fat, pre-diabetic and hypertensive. I was insecure, unhappy, and going through my normal routine of fast food and TV, until one day something clicked in my head as I looked myself in the mirror. I wanted change. I was now READY for change. But where was I to start? I knew NOTHING when it came to fitness and nutrition. So what did I do?
I sought help.
I got a personal trainer at my local gym to lay out a solid game plan for me, I looked for nutrition coaches online to show me why I ate, and I created a group of friends I could workout with to keep me accountable.
Within a few months, my entire body changed. Losing 40lbs, increase muscle mass, and starting the first steps on my fitness journey.
Fast forward several years, as I continue to pursue a healthier and better me each and everyday, I now have the opportunity to guide people along that same path.
